MOAT Studio

MOAT Studio was established through a desire to do architecture differently. Over time architects have removed themselves from the construction process, in order to limit risk and responsibility. Their role has been reduced and more clearly defined as designers, and not builders.

As designers isolate themselves more and more from construction, their level of knowledge of the very thing they are creating diminishes.

As a practice registered with both the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists and Chartered Institute of Building, we aim to bridge that gap as designers and constructors. Our knowledge of the construction process enables us to develop a strong and nuanced list of options for our clients, empowering them to make good decisions.

The following ethos drives our work:

We are committed to raise the standard of the built environment, in terms of use, social inclusion, and energy efficiency, as well as design aesthetics
We are committed to the development of construction and architectural technology and developing innovative solutions, grounded in an understanding of traditional building methods.
We collaborate with our clients and other experts to exceed expectations
To be proud of the work we do and of the way we do it.
We undertake a wide range of architecture projects, ranging from extensions and refurbishments of existing properties, to multi-million-pound new build schemes. We specialise in complex or sensitive sites, taking a scientific, research based approach to deliver innovative architectural solutions, designed for your specific needs.

A single architectural design style or philosophy does not restrict us. Each MOAT project is the result of an in depth understanding of our clients’ needs and aspirations. We consider the best solution for the site/building, the current and future building users and what is the most efficient way to use your investment. All this information is fed into our rigorous design process, resulting in a signature building that exceeds all expectations.

We work with a broad range of construction and design professionals on our architectural projects, to provide specialist advice, including, resource management, landscape designers sustainable design advice and interior design. Each of these disciplines are embedded into our design process to ensure the best outcome for your project.
